OTA (Online Travel Agency)

OTAs (Online Travel Agencies) are online booking platforms — Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, Expedia and similar. They bring demand in exchange for a percentage commission; for most Italian PMs they remain the main sales channel.

Commission rates vary by platform, listing type and contract (host-only vs split, Genius, boosters, etc.). Typical host questions — “how much does Airbnb take”, “Booking commissions 2026” — have answers that change over time: always verify the effective % on your account and product mix.

Beyond the headline commission, real margin also absorbs VAT (when non-deductible), paid visibility and add-on fees. Dott.House imports OTA bookings via the PMS and shows the waterfall to net so the OTA % is a cost on the listing, not an abstract number.
